Area Supervisor

Job Profile
The area supervisor is responsible for developing and leading profitable restaurants in partnership with a team of general managers while meeting critical QSC&V standards, and all BFR operational, talent, and financial targets. The area supervisor embodies the Bear Family Restaurant culture of impressing every guest and serving with significance through delivering exceptional guest service, addressing all employees concerns, and serving the community through volunteerism.

Essential Job Functions
1. Leads a patch of restaurants through partnering with general managers to meet or exceed organizational targets in the areas of quality, service, cleanliness, and value.
2. Ensures assigned restaurants meet or exceed all BFR financial targets, including sales, food cost, labor and all other controllable areas of the profit and loss statement.
3. Ensures BFR systems and routines are in place and functioning properly. Provides direction and coaching to general managers and others when needed.
4. Identifies barriers to operational execution and provides resources to overcome the barriers and grow the business.
5. Works as a coach with general managers to ensure communication is ongoing and objectives are met.
6. Identifies talented employees with growth potential and supports general managers and their teams in the training and development of those individuals. Verifies that development and preparation for successful growth is occurring. Champions people development in every restaurant, and makes hourly management hiring decisions. The supervisor partners with the director of operations in recommendations and promotions to general manager.
7. Performs and demonstrates a sense of continuous improvement in all aspects of the role, from self-development to guest satisfaction.
8. Effectively communicates across the organization in a clear, concise and meaningful manner. Demonstrates strength of communication skills in both written and verbal interaction. The area supervisor must be proficient in these skills.
9. Demonstrates solid time management, organizational and critical thinking skills. Effectively models these skills with restaurant management teams and office staff.
10. Role models people standards and policies set forth in both the BFR Hourly Employee Handbook and Salaried Employee Handbook.
11. Ensures compliance with all municipal, county, state, and federal laws and ordinances.

Other Duties and Tasks – Secondary to Essential Job Functions
• Manages various calendar repetitive duties such as those required during each restaurant visit, and on a weekly, monthly and quarterly basis.
• Manages email in an effective, professional and timely manner.
• Conducts food safety and cash audits with each restaurant on a monthly basis.
• Allots time on a regular basis for personal development.
• Ensures “operations focused” visits and conducts Business Results Days at each restaurant.
• Conducts monthly patch meetings: more frequently as needed.
• Conducts annual performance reviews and partners with direct reports to establish performance objectives.
• Complies with all BFR policies regarding usage of Company credit cards, and timely invoice and Concur management.

Additional Knowledge or Skills Required
• Must be adept at the use of technology, including various forms of restaurant and guest-facing technology, and basic MS Office and email software and applications.

Standards of Conduct
• Area supervisors must exemplify honesty and ethical behavior, while modeling and demanding these same standards from their management teams and peers.
• Area supervisors must ethically represent BFR when communicating with guests, community members, vendors and suppliers.
• Area supervisors must support and model all BFR policies and expectations as listed in the BFR Salaried Employee Handbook.

Account Payable Associate

Job Profile
The Accounts Payable Associate’s primary role is to ensure the invoices are properly coded, routed, and paid on time. In addition, that good standing is maintained with vendors to avoid situations of late payment or potential credit holds. The assistant also provides quarterly or semi-annual vendor reviews providing key spend data and continues to look for ways to optimize spend, invoice pay processes and other cost saving measures.

Essential Job Functions
1. Ensures the accurate logging, tracking, and assigning of all invoices.
2. Responsible for timely approval and payment of invoices.
3. Processes ACH tax payments on a monthly and timely basis.
4. Monitors and manages the Company’s A/P mailbox.
5. Proactively coordinates seasonal contract execution with operations and provides schedules and detail to restaurants.
6. Conducts semi-annual vendor scorecard analysis to understand spend.

Other Duties and Tasks – Secondary to Essential Job Functions
• Coordinates office cleaning company activity and manages invoices.
Backup Duties – Support for Absent Staff
• May assist with operational data reporting and findings on a monthly basis.

People Experience Lead

People Experience Lead

The People Experience Lead (PEL) is self-motivated, engaged with people and demonstrates care, respect, and passion for restaurant crew, managers and guests. The PEL provides partnership, innovation and oversight in the areas of employee experience – across all of the organization’s 32 restaurants. The PEL is expected to execute their work in partnership with the restaurants General Managers, and members of the extended leadership teams to bring our employee value proposition to life. Principal accountabilities will vary dependent on the needs of individual restaurants.

Job Duties

  1. Ensure people strategies and retention initiatives are effectively planned, executed and championed at the restaurant level.
  2. Support the execution of our people and training initiatives.

Work Environment

The work environment consists of both office and restaurant settings. Hours of work could include evenings and weekends. Travel will be required to attend restaurant meetings or training workshops.

Education and Experience

  • Bilingual in English and Spanish is required (fluent in speaking, reading, and writing).
  • Post-secondary studies in human resources, education or a related field is a plus.
  • Ideal candidate work experience includes one or more of the following:
    • Minimum 2 years as a human resources generalist.
    • Minimum 2 years as a multi-unit or market level training leader.
    • Minimum 1 year as a multi-unit operations supervisor.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Experienced at developing and tracking training action plans.
  • Experienced and can analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) in the areas of people and business performance.
  • Excellent communication skills. History of communicating with all levels of an organization.

Training Supervisor

The Training Supervisor in partnership with members of our leadership team, functions as an organizational trainer in support of our 32 restaurants. The person is self-motivated, engaging, and demonstrates detail in communication, execution and follow-up.

Job Duties (Highlighted Partial Listing)

  1. Initially, the Training Supervisor will partner with members of our leadership team in developing a market trainer program to support our 32 restaurant organization.
  2. The Training Supervisor executes organizational training initiatives through one-on-one development and follow-up, small group training, and classroom presentations.
  3. The person will work with restaurant general managers and operations supervisors to educate, follow-up and measure progress against training and development plans.
  4. Future duties will include deploying and guiding trainers assigned to smaller groups or patches of restaurants in our organization. Their focus is to ensure execution of our People Brand Standards and Employee Value Proposition.

Education and Experience

  • Bilingual in English and Spanish is a qualifying must.
  • Undergraduate degree or equivalent professional experience required.
  • Ideal candidate work experience includes one or more of the following:
    • Minimum 2 years as a mid-level trainer in a multi-site environment.
    • Minimum 2 years as an organizational trainer.

Facilities Services Scheduling Coordinator

Job Duties (Four Highlighted)

  1. Receive and log inbound calls from general managers and supervisors seeking service and repair from our facilities management team.
  2. Work with service technicians to prioritize and schedule restaurant service calls.
  3. Communicate and coordinate with facilities management team and restaurant general managers to prioritize and schedule timely service calls to 32 restaurants.
  4. Make follow-up calls with our general managers to ensure they are satisfied with their service experience.

Education and Experience

  • Bilingual in English and Spanish is a plus.
  • Some college or technical school desired. Must have a high school diploma.
  • Ideal candidate work experience includes one or more of the following:
    • Minimum 2 years as a service coordinator or dispatcher in a multi-site environment.
    • Minimum 2 years as a call center specialist.
    • Minimum 2 years as an assistant manager in the restaurant industry.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Excellent organizational skills are required to manage the many elements of an active service request.
