Local teachers serve students and families on McTeacher’s Night to raise money for the school.
South Elgin| Willard Elementary School students gave teachers an A-plus on their fundraising efforts to support the School.
Teachers and support staff from Willard volunteered behind the counter and at the Drive-Thru on Thursday, April 18th, 2019, at the South ElginMcDonald’s located on N. McLean Blvd., where they served students and their families in a fundraiser.
Willard Principal, Dustin Covarrubias, worked the event and made time to mingle and take pictures with the students and their families. Teachers King and Plach wore the pie box while alongside them several other teachers sold pies to raise money for the school.
The proceeds from the sale of 198 Apple Pies went directly to benefit Willard Elementary. Twenty percent of the proceeds from the McTeacher’s Night sales were also donated directly to the school.
David Bear, Owner-Operator of the South Elgin McDonald’s, was delighted to participate in the worthy cause for education and the community.
“McTeacher’s Night is part of McDonald’s larger commitment to education and other important initiatives supporting families and the local community,” Bear said.
“We are proud to serve the families of the Willard community and through the McTeacher’s Night event. In addition to helping provide financial support for our local schools, we help students feel connected to their school, their teachers and their sense of community.”
David Bear donated a case of apple pies to the school for sale at the event. Inspired by the success of McTeacher’s Night, The Bear Family has set their sights on partnering with other schools in the area.
“The teachers and everyone who rolled up their sleeves in support of this event” are the fabric that strengthens our community,” Bear said.
