McTeacher’s Night is Full of Fun and Fundraising In Niles

Niles| Teachers from Mark Twain Elementary in East Maine School District 63 teamed up with the Bear Family Restaurants and McDonald’s owner-operator, David Bear, on Thursday, February 28th, at the 7969 N. Milwaukee Avenue location, to kick-off  McTeacher’s Night.
This fundraiser helped raise money for Mark Twain Elementary School with a hands-on approach.  Students were able to see their teachers and school administrators in a different setting outside the classroom, while they worked behind the counters taking orders, preparing freshly cooked meals and handing out food and desserts to patrons.
The event was made possible by the generosity of the Bear Family Restaurants, and Chicagoland McDonald’s franchise owner-operator, David Bear and his amazing staff, who assisted Mark Twain throughout the night.
David Bear was excited to host the students and teachers and said he always loves the positive energy the event brings to the restaurant. The McDonald’s staff enjoyed partnering with the school because it gives them a chance to give back to the community they are in, according to Bear.
“I’m proud to play a part in bringing the community together and supporting, students and education,” Mr. Bear said.  He added, “Helping children receive a quality education… that’s the greatest feeling of all.”
Twain Principal, Erica Perelgut,  was delighted to partner with the local McDonald’s in this fundraising effort.
Retired Mark Twain Administrator Eva Perelgut came out to support the school and took a shift in the apple pie custom while daughter, Erica Perelgut, Mark Twain Principal, sold the pies alongside her. Teacher Andrew Hancock also took a turn wearing the pie costume during this event. They were “Lovin it”. So many teachers were on hand to help managed orders and serve ice cream.

A McTeacher’s Night is organized to help raise money for local schools by having the teachers work at McDonald’s, while a percentage of the night’s sales is then donated to the local participating school.
