Niles | Gemini Junior High School students gave teachers an A-plus on their fundraising efforts to support local education and their school.

Over twenty teachers from East Main School District 63, volunteered behind the counter on Wednesday, February 13, at the Niles McDonald’s located on Milwaukee Ave., where they served students and their families in a fundraiser for Gemini Junior High School.

Mr. Lewis Roberts, Principal, Gemini Junior High School was at the event the entire night talking with the families, taking pictures with students and working hard at the Drive-Thru. Teacher Michelle Hughes wore the pie box costume while Monad Bahrani sold the pies.  The proceeds from the sale of 240 pies went directly to benefit the PTSO, the students, and school.

The night was extra special because this was the sixth McTeacher’s Night for Gemini Junior High School. The Gemini Orchestra gave an amazing performance during the event.

David Bear, Owner-Operator of the Niles McDonald’s, and the Bear Family were delighted to participate in the worthy cause for education and the community.

“McTeacher’s Night is part of McDonald’s larger commitment to education and other important initiatives supporting families and the local community,” Bear said.

“We are proud to serve the families of the Gemini community and through the McTeacher’s Night event.  In addition, to help provide financial support for our local schools, we help students feel connected to their school, their teachers and their sense of community.”

Bear donated a case of apple pies to the school for sale at the event.  Inspired by the success of McTeacher’s Night, the Bear Family has set their sights on partnering with other schools in the Niles area.

“Principal Roberts and everyone who rolled up their sleeves in support of this event”is the fabric that strengthens our community,” Bear said.
