Teachers from Community Consolidated School District 54 volunteered behind the counter on Wednesday, November 7, at the Hoffman Estates McDonald’s located on Higgins Rd., where they served students and their families in a fundraiser for Neil Armstrong Elementary School.
Mrs. Diana Lipman, Principal at Neil Armstrong Elementary School, alongside Assistant Principal Mrs. Breann Thurber tended the apple pie box during the night.
Teachers Sue Johnson, Yoland Kocemba, Deepa Rai and Brenda Rengers, did an outstanding job selling pies to customers throughout the night. The proceeds from their sale of 151 pies went directly to benefit the students. Twenty percent of the proceeds from the McTeacher’s Night sales were donated directly to the Armstrong PTA, which plans to use the money to help pay for activities that further enrich student’s education.
David Bear, Owner-Operator of the Hoffman Estates McDonald’s, and the Bear Family were delighted to participate in the worthy cause for education and the community.
“McTeacher’s Night is part of McDonald’s larger commitment to education and other important initiatives supporting families and the local community.” Bear said.
“We are proud to serve the families of the Armstrong Elementary School community and through the McTeacher’s Night event. In addition to helping provide financial support for our local schools, we help students feel connected to their school, their teachers and their sense of community.”
Bear donated a case of apple pies to the school for sale at the event
“Lipman, Thurber and everyone who rolled up their sleeves in support of this event are the fabric that strengthens our community.” Bear said.
