Harriet Gifford Elementary Has Great teachers that give more than grades

On Wednesday, October 17th, Harriet Gifford Elementary teachers of district U-46, volunteered behind the counter at the Elgin McDonald’s located on Larkin Ave., where they served students and their families during this fundraiser. Teachers sold pies donated by Mr. David Bear, made Ice cream treats, took orders, served food and even sang for tips.

All proceeds from the donated pies, as well as 20% of the school’s food sales, were donated back to the school.

A very special thank you goes out to Parent and PIC member, Cristina Camposano, who worked very hard to organize the entire event. A special appearance by Buddy the school’s mascot made the evening extra special. Buddy took many pictures with the families.

The PIC plans to put the money raised into the PIC fund to go towards items needed for the school.

David Bear, Owner Operator of the Larkin McDonald’s, and the Bear Family were delighted to participate in the worthy cause for education and the community.

“McTeacher’s Night is part of McDonald’s larger commitment to education and other important initiatives supporting families and the local community,” Bear said.

“We are proud to serve the families of the Harriet Gifford Elementary community and through the McTeacher’s Night event.  In addition to helping provide financial support for our local schools, we help students feel connected to their school, their teachers and their sense of community.”
