Blackhawks Tommy Hawk Helps Indian Grove Elementary School Celebrate McTeacher’s Night

Indian Grove Elementary School held their second annual McTeacher’s Night Fundraiser at the Mt. Prospect McDonald’s on Rand Road.  A McTeacher’s Night is organized to help raise money for local schools by having teachers work at McDonald’s and then giving a percentage of the night’s sales back to the local school. What an amazing night for Indian Grove School!

On Thursday, April 12th, the restaurant was taken over by thirty teachers and staff members excited to serve freshly prepared meals to students and their families.  Teachers also handed out orders, cleaned tables, made ice cream treats, served drinks, and even dressed up in an apple pie costume. Staff members Mary Ryan and Sue Herrick dressed in the Pie outfit and what a blast they had mingling with all the families and taking pictures. Principal Lynn Fisher and Assistant Principal Amy Veytesman especially enjoyed cleaning the tables and selling pies!

The students and families were treated to a visit from Chicago Blackhawks mascot Tommy Hawk.  Tommy Hawk entertained the students by dancing, doing tricks and even dispensing silly string!  Several students received Tommy Hawk’s autograph and also received t-shirts.

The Indian Grove Elementary teachers worked hard selling delicious apple pies all night and had a blast. The funds earned from the Pie sales will go directly to support Parent/Teacher Council at Indian Grove Elementary.

A special thank you goes to Indian Grove Elementary PTC member Michelle Murphy who organized the event as well as everyone who worked and attended.
