St. Raymond De Penafort School of Mt. Prospect held their third annual McTeacher’s Night at the Mt. Prospect McDonald’s on Rand Road on Wednesday, February 7th. A McTeacher’s Night is organized to help raise money for local schools by having the teachers work at McDonald’s and then giving a percentage of the night’s sales to the local school.
On Wednesday the restaurant was taken over by teachers excited to serve freshly prepared meals to students and their families to raise money for St. Raymond Family School Association. The students and families were excited to see their teachers and staff behind the counter and throughout the restaurant.
Thirty teachers and staff members worked from the elementary school including Assistant Principal Cathy Hart. The McTeacher’s jobs included greeting guests, cleaning the lobby, working the front counter, serving drinks, clearing tables, selling pies and even dressing up in a pie costume–all duties which were executed with great enthusiasm.
St. Raymond School teachers Debbie Stoeckel and Darlene Mack had a blast dancing around the restaurant in a pie costume. They were encouraging the families to make a donation and receive a delicious hot apple pie. Special thanks goes to teachers Tom Carrico and Joyce Gartz who assisted the “pie” in selling 159 pies!
One highlight of the evening is when the school received a tip in the tip jar St. Raymond School Spanish teacher Lisette Wallin and FSA member Dayle Ellis encouraged all the staff members to sing the McDonald’s jingle. The tips kept pouring in all night long!
A special thank you goes to Melissa Sawadski and Dayle Ellis who organized the event as well as everyone that worked and attended the event. St. Raymond School teachers worked hard and with excitement, while the families enjoyed a spectacular evening. The St. Raymond FSA plan to use the money raised to purchase I-pads and MacBook’s for all grade levels.
St. Raymond School raised over $950.00 at the event thanks to all generous families who supported the event.
