Abbott Middle School in District U-46 held its annual McTeacher’s Night on Tuesday, September 26th, at the Elgin McDonald’s on Larkin St. and hit it out of the park.

A McTeacher’s Night is organized to help raise money for local schools by having teachers and staff work at McDonald’s and then giving a percentage of the night’s sales back to the local school.

On September 26th, the restaurant was taken over by teachers and staff members from Abbott Middle School excited to serve freshly prepared meals to students and their families.

Twenty-Three teachers/staff worked from the school including Principal Kathy Davis and Assistant Principal Christine Zugel. The McTeacher’s jobs included greeting guests, cleaning the lobby, working the front counter, serving drinks, clearing tables, selling apple pies and even dressing up as an apple pie.

The Abbott Middle School Band and Orchestra played beautiful music during the entire event. Ronald McDonald Showed up to add even more excitement and took many pictures with the staff and the families that were there to support Abbott Middle School.

A Special thank you goes to teachers Youngerman and Reicha, who volunteered to dress up as an apple pie the entire night while families donated funds for their own delicious pie!  Thank you to SCC President Christ Olsen who organized the entire event. Abbott Middle School teachers and staff worked hard and with excitement, while the families enjoyed a spectacular evening.

Abbott Middle School plans to use the money raised to help pay for the end of year dance and PBIS events.
