St Raymond De Penaforte Elementary School in Mt. Prospect held their second annual McTeacher’s Night at the Mt. Prospect McDonald’s on Rand Road. on Thursday, February 23.  A McTeacher’s Night is organized to help raise money for local schools by having teachers work at McDonald’s and then giving a percentage of the night’s sales to the local school.
On Thursday the restaurant was taken over by teachers excited to serve freshly prepared meals to students and their famiies to raise money for St. Raymond Elementary School.  The students and families were excited to see their teachers and principal behind the counter and throughout the restaurant.
Thirty-one teachers worked from the elementary school, including Principal Mary Eileen Ward.  The McTeacher’s jobs included greeting guests, cleaning the lobby, working the front counter, serving drinks, clearing tables, selling pies and even dressing up in a pie costume–all duties which were executed with great enthusiasm.
Middle School teacher, Tom Carrico, had a blast dancing around the restaurant in a pie costume. He was encouraging the families to make a donation and receive a delicious hot apple pie.
Ronald McDonald stopped by to enjoy the festivities and meet the students and staff members from St. Raymond Elementary School. The students enjoyed getting their picture taken and giving Ronald McDonald high fives!  A group of middle school students enjoyed some magic tricks compliments of Ronald McDonald.
A special thank you goes to PTO Representatives Dayle Ellis and Melissa Sawadski who organized the event as well as everyone that worked and attended the event. St. Raymond teachers worked hard and with excitement, while the families enjoyed a spectacular evening. The St. Raymond F.S.A. plans to use the money raised for technology for the students, playground equipment and new sports uniforms.
The PTO raised $1100.00 at the event thanks to all the singing the teachers did for tips. The students donated money to have the teachers sing the theme song over and over!
