Lowrie Elementary School teachers, parents, students and friends gathered at the McDonald’s located at 1440 Larkin Ave, on Thursday, November 15th. This event offers community members a win-win situation whereby dining in the restaurant, a portion of proceeds would be donated to the school.

Teachers from Lowrie Elementary in District U-46 volunteered behind the counter where they served students and their families in a fundraiser.

Miss Tapia wearing the pie costume and Mrs. Mancera selling the pie to customers throughout the night did a terrific job.  The proceeds from the pies, which were donated by David Bear and The Bear Family Restaurants, went directly to benefit the students.  Twenty percent of the proceeds from the McTeacher’s Night sales were also donated to the school, which plans to use the money to help pay for assemblies and other general needs.

David Bear, Owner – Operator of the Elgin McDonald’s on Larkin, feels honored to be part of the success that is making a difference in the lives of today’s children.

“McDonald’s has a large commitment to education and many important initiatives that support families and the local community, McTeacher’s Night does that.” Bear said.
