Elsie Johnson Elementary teachers make the grade
Elsie Johnson Elementary raises $722.00 at first Bloomingdale McTeacher’s Night
Bloomingdale | Elsie Johnson Elementary School of School District 93 in Carol Stream held their first McTeacher’s Night at the Bloomingdale McDonald’s located at 72 Stratford Dr. on Thursday, September 20.
A McTeacher’s Night is organized to help raise money for local schools by having the teachers work at McDonald’s, while a percentage of the night’s sales is then donated to the local participating school.
The Bloomingdale restaurant was swarmed by teachers excited to serve freshly prepared meals to students and their families pitching in to raise money for the Elsie Johnson PTA. The students were excited to see their teachers, principal, and assistant principal work behind the counter and throughout the restaurant.
By all accounts, the event was a success in raising both smiles and sales.
Teachers Todd Levy, Patti Marlow, and Rosanne sold pies while teachers Roberto Berreles, Rachel Falk, and Dana Eden dressed up as a pie box. Teachers Deanna Taylor, Kelly Lake, Monica Patel, and Cyndi Chapman managed orders at the drive-thru, while also collecting tips. Many teachers help take orders, made ice cream treats and helped serve delicious meals during this event.
The event is a fun, community-based fundraiser that invited Elsie Johnson Elementary School students, families, and staff to actively support their local school.
Elsie Johnson PTA member, Kathie Wilder said, “This event brings our school together to enjoy an evening of food and community, we love this event!” She also said, “Money raised will go to support community projects.”
The event was made possible by David Bear, local franchise owner-operator, and his staff, located in Bloomingdale, who assisted throughout the night.
Bear said he was thrilled to invite Elsie Johnson Elementary families to his McDonald’s Restaurant. “I’m proud to play a part in bringing the community together and supporting education,” he said. “Helping children receive a quality education. That’s the greatest feeling of all.”
